In order to obtain a Private Hire Drivers Licence you must have successfully completed our Private Hire Training & Assessment programme.Your licence will not be provided without completion of this check. These can be completed before you apply and you upload the result as part of this application or you can apply after submitting this application.You must also complete a DBS application (Criminal Records Check) and provide a DVLA three year mandate consent both of which must be completed with Personnel Checks.You therefore need a debit or credit card to make the payment. The application fee for a New Private Hire Driver licence is £64.00 for a 1 year licence or £120.00 for a 3 year licence and must be paid electronically as part of this application process.Six monthly DBS checks are now required by the Department for Transport.

If you do not subscribe to the Update Service and your licence is granted or renewed after 1 April 2021, you will be required to purchase a new DBS certificate every six months. We will not accept certificates for ‘adult workforce Taxi driver/ PHV driver’. The DBS certificate must be for an enhanced check for the position of ‘Other workforce taxi driver’ or ‘Child and adult workforce Taxi driver/ PHV driver’. – From 1 April 2021, City of Wolverhampton Council will require all applicants providing a DBS certificate to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. I am subscribed to the DBS Update Service or I am willing to provide an Enhanced DBS Certificate every six months.
